Raleigh, North Carolina, is located in the Research Triangle Park area, also called “the Research Triangle” or simply “the Triangle.” The Research Triangle has been the 10th fastest-growing region in the United States since 2020, as the area continues to be reshaped by a surge in people moving to Sunbelt communities.

The population was 5,000 in 1990 and, as of the end of 2023, it was over 75,000. This includes a 38% population growth over 10 years. The per capita income is $55,896, which is an increase of 35.9% since 2014. Owner-occupied housing units have increased 43.1% increase.

Clayton is a town in western Johnston County, NC, and is considered a satellite town of Raleigh. As of 2020, Clayton’s population was 26,307 up from 16,116 at the 2010 census. By 2024, the town’s estimated population was 30,621. Much of that growth can be attributed to the proximity to the Research Triangle and access to major highways such as I-40 and US 70. Clayton’s population grew 277% from 2000 to 2020.

Holly Springs is located in south Wake County, just 10 minutes from the Raleigh urban core. The population has nearly doubled in the last 10 years. From the 2010 census to the 2020 census, the population increased by 67%. In 2022, the population was 42,023 with an estimated population for 2024 of 49,417.
Rolesville is a town in northeastern Wake County and is 29 miles from downtown Raleigh via US-401 N. It has been one of the top three fastest-growing communities in N.C. every year since 2005. From 2010 to 2020, Rolesville’s population grew by 150%, making it the fastest-growing municipality in North Carolina with a population of at least 5,000. In 2022, the population was 9,700.
Rolesville has been named one of the best places to live near the greater Research Triangle area. It provides residents with a small-town and suburban feeling of living.
